So you have decided to attend your first yoga class…Congratulations! But we are sure at this stage you might be asking “What will I need to bring?” At Tree Yoga, we cater for yoga for beginners and want you to enjoy your practice with us by feeling as physically and mentally prepared as possible – yes yoga requires both!
WHAT TO BRING FROM HOME
First and foremost, make sure you come to yoga in comfortable clothing but not too loose or baggy as they might get in the way of your practice. Most yogis like to wear tights or yoga pants and a loose (but not too loose) shirt. No shoes are needed for yoga practice (bare feet help give you more grip on your mat) so you need not worry there – as you enter the studio you will be required to take off any footwear as well as socks.
Other items you should bring from home include a yoga mat, towel and water. As someone who might be new to the practice and may be attending a yoga for beginners class, yoga mats, towels and water can be hired or purchased at Tree Natural Concept for your convenience. However, as you deepen your practice with us, you may want to consider purchasing your own yoga mat for classes or personal practice.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST YOGA CLASS
Make sure to come to class on an empty stomach – make sure to wait an hour or two after eating before arriving at your class as you may cause yourself some harm.
On the topic of arriving for your yoga class, try be ready on your mat at the start time – a big part of the practice is the peace and concentration that comes with it and late arrivals tend to disrupt the harmony yoga tries to create. Always be mindful of the yogis around you – turn off your phone and keep a decent amount of space between you and others.
Ensure You Are Mentally Prepared
Make sure you come mentally prepared and remember, you do not need to be super fit, flexible or strong to practice yoga. The main objective is to calm the mind, relax you and open your mind to the practice. Yoga is achievable by all. Always remember that there will be some difficult yoga poses you will not be able to achieve – that is okay (chances are, most of us can’t). Perfecting poses takes years of practice so just start small and build on the basics.
